Connect ChatGPT to Shopify in three steps.

With Developer mode

  1. Open Settings, then Apps, and turn on Developer mode under Advanced settings.
  2. Choose Create app, name it Product Upload and paste the address.
  3. Choose OAuth for authentication, then Create.
  4. Sign in to Product Upload when asked, tick your Shopify store, and choose Read only or Full access.

Custom apps need a paid ChatGPT plan, and some plans only allow read actions. Menu names can differ by plan. Once Product Upload is listed in ChatGPT's app directory, you will be able to add it from there without Developer mode.

Is this for selling my products inside ChatGPT?

No. Showing your products in ChatGPT for shoppers to buy is set up in Shopify itself. Product Upload's connector is for you, the merchant: ChatGPT uses it to import products from supplier websites into your store and to edit your catalogue, with an undo for every edit.

Do I need the Product Upload app on Shopify first?

Yes. Install it from the Shopify App Store and sign in with your email, then use the same email when ChatGPT asks you to sign in. Without a store connected, products ChatGPT imports are saved in Product Upload for CSV export instead of going into Shopify.

Which ChatGPT plans can use it?

Adding a custom app needs Developer mode, which is on paid ChatGPT plans, and some plans only allow read actions. Product Upload costs nothing extra to connect.

Can ChatGPT import a supplier's whole catalogue?

Yes. Send it the supplier's website or a category page. It lists the products, checks which ones are already in your store, and imports the rest in batches once you say go. Big imports run in the background; ask ChatGPT for an update whenever you like.

What can ChatGPT change in my Shopify store?

With Full access it can edit titles, descriptions, SEO, tags and status, variant prices, compare-at prices, SKUs and barcodes, stock at each location, images, collections and metafields. On Read only it can look but not change anything. It never sees your orders, customers or payment details.

Can I undo what ChatGPT changed?

Yes. Every edit is saved first, so asking ChatGPT to undo puts the product back. Anything you or your staff changed in between is left alone. Deleted variants and images cannot be fully restored, so ChatGPT asks before deleting.

Does it cost extra?

No. Products ChatGPT imports or creates use the same credits as any other import. Editing, reading your catalogue and browsing suppliers are free.

Does it work with Wix or WooCommerce too?

Yes. Importing works the same on all three. Editing covers almost everything on WooCommerce (plugin 1.3.0 or later), and titles, descriptions, prices, stock, images and collections on Wix stores using Wix's original catalogue.
