Use Claude or ChatGPT to import and edit Shopify products
Connect Claude or ChatGPT to your Shopify store through Product Upload, then ask it to import products from a supplier or change prices, stock, variants and listings. Every edit can be undone.

What your assistant can do in Shopify
Product Upload already imports products from supplier sites into Shopify. Connecting an assistant gives that importer a chat window, and adds an editor for the products you already have. You describe the job; the assistant picks the steps and tells you what it did.
It works on your live store, not a copy. Reading products, checking your balance and browsing suppliers are free. Imports use your normal credits; edits are free.

Importing from a supplier
Give your assistant a supplier link, a category page or a list of product URLs. It checks which ones are already in your store, tells you what is new, and only imports what you agree to. Imports run through the same pipeline as the app, so your price multiplier, rounding, currency conversion, collections, inventory settings and writing style all apply. They land as drafts unless your settings say otherwise.
Things merchants ask:
- “Import the twelve newest pendant lights from this supplier as drafts.”
- “Which of these 40 links are already in my store?”
- “How did this morning's import go? What failed and why?”
If you send the same link twice, or the same page spelled slightly differently, while it is still importing, the second one is skipped and costs nothing.
Editing products already in your store
With Full access the assistant can change any part of a product, including ones you made yourself in Shopify. It reads the product first, then sends the changes as one edit.
- “Lower every size of this jacket by 10% and show the old price as the compare-at.”
- “Rename the colour ‘Gry’ to ‘Grey’ on this product.” Variants keep their stock, prices and images.
- “Set the XL to 0 in the Auckland location and stop selling it when it runs out.”
- “Shorten these titles to under 70 characters and write an SEO description for each.”
- “Add a Navy colour with the same price as Black.”
How undo works
Before each edit, Product Upload saves what the product looked like. Ask your assistant to undo and it puts back what that edit changed, but only where the product still holds what the edit wrote. If you, a staff member or another app changed a price after the assistant did, undo leaves your change in place and tells you it did.
Things the edit added, such as a new colour, are removed again. Stock is only put back if it still shows the quantity the edit set, so sales made in between are never overwritten.
Staying in control
Start with Read only. It can see your products, imports and balance and browse suppliers, but cannot import or change anything. Switch to Full access under Settings, AI assistants when you are ready, and remove a connection there to cut it off straight away. It never sees your orders, customers or payment details.
