Is AliExpress dropshipping to Shopify allowed?
Yes. AliExpress is the most common dropshipping source in the world and Shopify explicitly supports it - DSers is "the official AliExpress solution" on the Shopify App Store. Both platforms know exactly what you're doing.
What you're not allowed to do is violate trademarks. AliExpress is full of counterfeit branded goods (Nike, Adidas, Apple accessories, Disney). Selling those on a Shopify store is a fast path to a shut-down from Shopify, a chargeback wave from customers, and in some cases a lawsuit. Stick to generic unbranded products or suppliers that provide brand-authorization paperwork.
The second thing that will get you shut down is misrepresenting shipping times. If a product takes 15–25 days from China and your product page says "Fast free shipping," Shopify's risk team will eventually notice the chargeback pattern. Be honest.

Pick DSers if you're running a pure AliExpress dropshipping store and want orders to flow automatically. Pick CJ or Zendrop if your customers care about faster US shipping or branded packaging. Pick Product Upload if you source from your own factory (including AliExpress sellers you've moved to direct) and just want the listing data copied over cleanly.
Method 1 - DSers (official AliExpress connector)
DSers is what replaced Oberlo when Shopify retired it in 2022. It still does exactly what Oberlo did: browse AliExpress, one-click import to Shopify, and auto-fulfill orders by placing them on AliExpress when a customer buys from you.
Steps
- Install the DSers app from the Shopify App Store.
- Connect your AliExpress account via the DSers Chrome extension (so DSers can place orders on your behalf).
- Browse AliExpress or use DSers' "Find Supplier" feature to locate a product.
- Click Import on the DSers toolbar. The product lands in DSers' Import List, not Shopify yet.
- Edit the title, description, images, price, and variants in the Import List. Don't skip this step. The raw AliExpress title is garbage and will tank your Google Shopping approval.
- Click Push to Shopify. The product appears in your admin.
The DSers fulfillment flow
When a customer buys on your Shopify store, DSers shows the order in its Orders tab. You click Order to AliExpress, pay for the item on AliExpress at cost, and the tracking number syncs back to the Shopify order automatically. Most sellers automate this with DSers' one-click bulk order feature.
Method 2 - Dropshipping agent (CJDropshipping, Zendrop)
These platforms are wrappers over AliExpress-style suppliers with their own warehouses in the US and EU. You trade a small per-unit markup for dramatically shorter shipping times.

The math flips if your niche is "something I need this week" (phone cases, fitness accessories, home basics). AliExpress's 15–25 day shipping bleeds conversion rate below 1%. CJ's 3–5 day US warehouse often doubles it.
Method 3 - Product Upload (URL-based)
This is our tool. Where it fits: you've found a product on AliExpress, you like the listing data (title, images, variant grid), but you don't want your fulfillment to depend on the AliExpress seller.
Paste the AliExpress product URL and Product Upload extracts:
- The English-translated title (and you can bulk-AI-rewrite it)
- All product images (up to 20, re-hosted on Shopify CDN)
- Variant grid with price per variant and inventory
- Description, specifications table, and dimensions
- SEO meta title and description (auto-generated from the product data)
Then you publish to Shopify directly - no CSV, no DSers chrome extension, no AliExpress account required. Fulfillment is your problem: you can pair it with DSers just for fulfillment (DSers lets you "supplier map" an existing Shopify product to an AliExpress listing without importing), or with a 3PL, or a direct factory contact.
What transfers - and what you must edit
What imports cleanly (any tool)
- Title (but it's a keyword-stuffed mess - rewrite it)
- Images (AliExpress serves high-res well-lit product shots)
- Variants: color / size / model
- Price per variant
- Basic specs (material, weight, dimensions)
What you MUST edit before publishing
- The title. "Summer Fashion New Style Women Casual Loose Long Sleeve T-shirt Tops Blouse" is a Google Shopping auto-reject. Use 3–6 words with the primary keyword and a differentiator.
- The description. AliExpress descriptions are machine-translated with "Dear buyer" openers, emoji, and random caps. Rewrite from scratch or use an AI rewrite. Shopify's Shopify Magic does this for free inside the admin.
- The images. Drop watermark-containing images and supplier-branded images. Keep the first 5 clean shots; remove the competitor comparison charts and the "Features" infographic.
- The price. Use a 2.5–4x markup depending on niche. $4 AliExpress → $14.99–$19.99 retail is standard. Anything under 2x markup loses money once you account for Shopify fees and returns.
What reviews you can and can't bring
AliExpress has customer photo reviews that are more trust-building than text. Loox and Judge.me integrate with review-import tools that scrape AliExpress review data with photos. This is a gray area - AliExpress doesn't formally authorize it, but it's widely used. If you use it, pick reviews that are honest (including 3–4 star ones) and never fabricate. Let's take a concrete example - a $4.20 silicone pet-hair roller sold at $19.99 on your Shopify store, with $1.20 ePacket shipping from the supplier.

You need to cover Shopify's $29/mo, DSers' $0–$19/mo, and your own time. At a $7.71 contribution margin, you break even on platform fees at ~4 orders per month. The bigger lever is CPA - if your ad creative lands at $3 instead of $5, your margin jumps to $9.71 (48%). Everyone focuses on product cost; almost nobody's margin problem is product cost.
Shipping times and the customer-service trap
The number one complaint on dropshipping Shopify stores is shipping time. AliExpress ePacket to the US is 12–25 days in 2026 - not the 7–14 days Google Shopping wants to see. Three ways to handle it:
- Be explicit on the product page. Add a shipping table with a realistic estimate ("Ships from partner warehouse, arrives in 15–25 business days"). The sellers who bury this in a FAQ are the ones who rack up chargebacks.
- Move high-velocity SKUs to a CJ/Zendrop US warehouse. Your bestsellers get 3–5 day delivery, your long tail stays on AliExpress.
- Offer a branded tracking page. Apps like AfterShip or 17TRACK show the order moving across 10+ tracking events, which dramatically reduces "where's my order?" tickets.
Returns
Nobody is going to let a customer ship a $4 pet roller back to China - the reverse shipping alone is $12. Most dropshippers just refund without requiring returns and absorb the cost. Budget 5% of revenue as a refund reserve.
