Temu Dropshipping on Shopify: How to Import Products (2026)
Temu has the lowest sourcing prices in retail and the trickiest economics for a Shopify store. The realistic Temu to Shopify playbook: what to import, what to avoid, the margin math after Shopify fees, and how to get listings into Shopify in seconds.

Why Temu is so cheap (and the catch)
Temu launched in 2022 under PDD Holdings, the parent company behind Pinduoduo. Two things drive prices that look impossible next to AliExpress:
- Direct-from-factory sourcing. Temu negotiates straight with Chinese manufacturers, often for a whole production run, with no wholesaler markup in between.
- Subsidised shipping. Temu absorbs much of the shipping cost to win market share, so the per-order economics are a customer-acquisition expense, not a profit.
The result is genuine retail prices 30 to 50 percent below AliExpress on identical SKUs. For a Shopify store, that is more margin per unit, if you can keep the customer buying from you rather than from Temu directly. The catch is quality control: many Temu listings are factory seconds that did not pass inspection for higher-margin marketplaces. Order a sample before you commit any Temu SKU to a recurring Shopify product.
Why there's no Temu app for Shopify
Shopify has the richest dropshipping ecosystem of any platform, which is exactly why merchants expect a one-click Temu connector and are surprised there isn't one. The reason is on Temu's side, not Shopify's: Temu offers no public product or order API and has not built a first-party Shopify app. The dropshipping tools you already know route elsewhere:
- DSers is the official AliExpress connector. It imports and syncs orders for AliExpress, not Temu. See our AliExpress to Shopify guide if AliExpress is also in your mix.
- Agents like Zendrop, CJDropshipping, and Spocket ship from their own warehoused catalogs. They don't pull arbitrary Temu URLs.
That leaves the URL-paste workflow as the realistic Temu to Shopify path. Product Upload imports any Temu product URL into your Shopify catalog with variants, images, and AI-rewritten copy, and you handle fulfillment yourself, manually while volume is low or by moving proven products to an agent's warehoused SKU later.
When Temu-to-Shopify actually works
The model works in three specific shapes:
- Curated niche stores. You are not competing on price. You curate a category and use Temu as one of several sourcing channels. Customers buy for the curation, not the bargain.
- Bundles. Three to five Temu products combined into one Shopify product, photographed together. The bundle has no single Temu URL to price-compare against.
- Hold-inventory. Order 20 to 100 units, store at home or a 3PL, ship in your own packaging. No Temu branding reaches the customer, margins are higher, and shipping is fast.
The shape that fails: listing a raw Temu product at 2x and letting Temu ship it. The customer reverse-image-searches, finds it on Temu for half, refunds, and never returns.
The catch: Temu competes with your store
AliExpress is a B2B-leaning marketplace most end consumers never open. Temu is the opposite, a consumer app with hundreds of millions of US, UK, EU, and AU users. Your Shopify customer probably already has it installed. In practice that means:
- A reverse-image search lands the customer on the same product on Temu in two clicks, where they see your markup.
- Temu's push notifications and retargeting follow your customer for months with the same item at a lower price.
- Temu's free-shipping threshold is low, so it often beats your Shopify shipping cost outright.
The defense is differentiation, not price: curation, bundling, your own photography, faster shipping from held inventory, real branding. The pure arbitrage play is mostly dead.
Importing a Temu listing into Shopify
Install Product Upload from the Shopify App Store, then:
- Copy the Temu product URL from your browser.
- Paste it into Product Upload.
- The app extracts the title, description, gallery images, every variant, and the current Temu price, then rewrites the title and description with AI so you are not publishing word-for-word Temu copy.
- Review the Shopify preview, set your retail price, reorder images.
- Publish to your Shopify catalog.
To populate a new store, queue multiple Temu URLs and let the bulk job run. For a deeper look at import options and scan-a-site bulk imports, see the Shopify platform overview.
Mapping to Shopify: variants, collections, markets
Options and variants
Shopify allows up to 3 options per product (for example size, color, style) and up to 100 variant combinations on standard plans. Temu listings with more option axes than that need trimming. Product Upload maps detected Temu variants into Shopify options on publish; drop the axes you don't need rather than letting an oversized variant grid through.
Collections
Shopify uses collections (manual or automated by rule) to group products. Imports land outside any collection by default, so either assign them on publish or set up an automated collection rule (for example by product type or tag) that catches new imports.
Markets and currency
If you sell internationally with Shopify Markets, set your base price in your home currency and let Shopify handle conversion. Temu prices fluctuate, so build margin that survives a supplier-side price bump rather than pricing to the cent off today's Temu number.
Margin math after Shopify fees
Run the numbers before listing. A representative Temu product on a Shopify store running paid traffic:
| Temu product cost | $4.00 |
| Temu shipping | $2.50 |
| Shopify Payments fee (2.9% + 30¢, Basic plan) | $1.02 |
| Ads (conservative blended CPA) | $8.00 |
| Total cost | $15.52 |
| Shopify sale price | $24.99 |
| Net margin | $9.47 (38%) |
The takeaway is the same as on any Temu store: per-unit markup matters less than repeat purchase, email capture, and curation. A store living on a single low-priced sale with paid traffic and no repeat buyers does not clear after fees. Anything under a 2.5x markup is usually underwater once ads and returns are counted.
Shipping and the de minimis change
Temu shipping is often slower than AliExpress even though both originate in China, because Temu consolidates orders and uses the cheapest carrier on free shipping. Expect roughly one to two weeks to the US, longer to smaller markets.
Two things have made this harder in 2025 and 2026. First, customs authorities have tightened scrutiny of low-declared-value parcels, so landed cost and delivery times on cheap China imports are less predictable than they were. Second, direct-from-Temu fulfillment still arrives in Temu packaging, which undercuts the experience your Shopify brand is trying to build. For anything you sell at volume, hold stock and ship it yourself, and keep your Shopify delivery estimates honest so you don't trigger a chargeback wave that puts a hold on Shopify Payments.
